Employee Spotlight: Paul Micelli, Operator

ALMASI COMPANIES

How long have you worked at Almasi?

I have worked at Almasi for 25 years now. I started as an operator for deep digs and later moved to operate one of our newest machines, the John Deer 345 excavator. Currently, I belong to Local 825 and on site in New Jersey installing chilled water and steam lines.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I just love what I do! I enjoy digging and excavating, and I like a challenge. Every day is something new, and I get to work with amazing people. The team at Almasi is like family to me, which makes for a good week at work.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

I am usually the one giving advice.  I consider myself a teacher, so I feel it is my job to mentor and teach the younger guys “right from wrong.” If they can take away bits and pieces of what I teach, then I have done my job.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that people would be surprised to learn?

I am a practical joker, and nothing I do surprises my coworkers.

I live in South Plainfield, NJ, I am married with two sons and a daughter.

My son has a PHD in psychology in Florida, my daughter lives in Georgia and is finishing her Master’s in psychology, and my other son, who lives in New Jersey, has a daughter, making me a proud grandfather.

My biggest hobby is classic cars and car shows, and I own a 63 Ford Fairlane. I also enjoy fishing.
