What do you like about working at Almasi?
I have been working at Almasi for a long time. I love that it is a flexible, family-friendly environment which makes it fun to work here.
How have you seen the industry change?
A lot of changes! The new trucks ride much better and are more comfortable to work in than when I first started. We started off with smaller trucks and over the years have graduated to bigger, more comfortable trucks. Through the years equipment has gotten so much better! When I first started driving, we didn’t have cabs on most of the equipment. That meant you were constantly exposed to the elements: cold winter air, hot summer heat and no protection from getting extremely dirty.
Now, everything is climate controlled. The trucks have air conditioning, automatic transmissions which make for a smoother ride, and dust filtration systems are in place so you’re not getting covered in dirt all day.
Also, back in the day everything was on handwritten paperwork. Not digital, no email, much better communications with cell phones- everything is instant now. Things get done a lot faster.
What is a Challenge that you have Overcome?
Over the years our workflow and jobsites have become more technical. Adapting to these changes could be considered a challenge.
Working in the plants, safety is above and beyond what it used to be. One person dedicated to just safety and technical information. Making sure the job is safe for everyone is the main priority and something we work towards every day on every jobsite.
Fun Fact: What would be people be surprised to learn about you?
Finding out my age! They think I am a lot younger.
I am also in “The 300 Club” for Bowling.
